Conradh na Gaeilge Glaschú are delighted to be hosting a screening of the acclaimed 2022 Irish lanuage film:
'An Cailín Ciúin' ('The Quiet Girl')
on Thursday May 22nd from 7 - 9pm,
in Grace's Irish Centre, 18 Candleriggs (next door to Grace's Irish Bar)
Set in 1981, the film follows a withdrawn nine-year-old girl who experiences a loving home for the first time when she spends the summer on a farm in Rinn Gaeltacht, County Waterford, alone with a married couple who are distant relatives.
It is mostly in the Irish language with English subtitles in English.
It was selected as Ireland's official entry for the 2023 Academy Awards in the best foreign-language film category and became the first ever Irish-language film to be nominated for an Oscar.
It received critical acclaim for its emotional weight, story, and performances.
