Extending, Rounding and Spiraling - Contact Improvisation Workshop with Penny Chivas

A day long workshop with Penny Chivas open to movers with at least some experience of contact improvisation (i.e. at least three classes or workshops within the last year).

Over the course of a day we'll investigate several different movement patterns that can be helpful when dancing alternating between solo and duo work. We'll work with our deep connection to the floor to find how our dances are shaped from the ground up but then also back down again as we dance with others. Finding ways to extend, to roll and to look at continuous movement inside a spiralling form we can work with how our dances can pass through to beyond the point of contact.

With time for more technical, detailed work we'll make sure to end in a place in which form can sit underneath our own evolving creative and playful interests.

Some time to investigate nuance and some for just moving through space in the way that we are, right now.
