Our respite program serves the needs of caregivers and their loved ones dealing with mild to moderate memory loss due to cognitive diseases. We offer activities and socialization opportunities outside the home in an interactive and multi- generational setting. We provide a safe and stimulating environment for our clients while their caregivers tend to other needs.
SUNY Geneseo Student volunteers gain valuable experience by learning to engage one-on-one in a compassionate and meaningful way. This allows caregivers a much-needed break along with the assurance that their loved one is in a welcoming and safe environment. There are plenty of activities for all to enjoy, including:
• Chair Exercises
• Arts and Crafts
• Games and Puzzles
• Music Therapy
• Cooking Projects
• Therapy dog visits
• Special celebrations and events
During the academic year (September through early May), the respite program is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. We are open on Tuesdays only from 10-2 during the summer months.
There is no cost to participate in this program, although tax-deductible contributions are greatly appreciated.
This program is sponsored by:
