Caregiving for a family member or friend with chronic conditions can be stressful—physically, emotionally, and financially. As a caregiver, you may be so focused on your loved one that you don't see how caregiving affects your own health and well-being. Join our Powerful Tools for Powerful Tools For Caregivers classes to learn about self-care strategies and techniques to increase relaxation and reduce stress.
If you are experiencing any signs of stress as a family caregiver, these classes are for you!
This self-care educational program for family caregivers builds the skills caregivers need to take better care of themselves as they provide care for others. Caregiver participants learn to minimize the stress of caregiving in a weekly program emphasizing self-care and empowerment. The PTC program meets the highest level criteria for evidence-based programs per the Administration on Aging.
Family caregivers develop a variety of self-care tools to:
• Reduce personal stress
• Change negative self-talk
• Communicate their needs to family members and healthcare providers
• Communicate more effectively in challenging situations
• Deal with difficult feelings
• Make tough caregiving decisions
Class participants receive a copy of The Caregiver Helpbook, developed specifically for the class.
