Cultivator with Bobby Henrie

Cultivator stirs up a soulful stew, dishing out a rootsy, mind-expanding blend at the great American musical potluck. Bassist and songwriter Bob Bunce lays down the vibe, joined by Rochester guitar maestro Herb Heins, groove-hopping multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Haschmann, percussion mystic Jim Patric, and the ever-bluesy Genesee Johnny.

Bob’s songs channel the spirit of the late '60s, blending cosmic country, deep blues, and jazzy improv. Think New Riders of the Purple Sage jamming with Miles Davis in a smoky after-hours set, with a nod to the raw truth of Willie Dixon. One moment you’re floating on a psychedelic jam like "Thoughts Piled," the next you're back on the ground with a twangy country tale like "I Love the Smell of My Tractor."

Add a splash of social consciousness and a whole lotta heart—and there you have it. They’ll be spinning tracks from their new double CD release Another Day in the Country. Color it "experimental Americana."

Bobby Henrie, multi-instrumental virtuoso and leader of Bobby Henrie and the Goners, opens the show with a solo set.
