Native Plants for Otsego County

Have you wondered what type of plants will grow well under these dry conditions? Native plants might be your answer. The Edelweiss Garden Club invites you to learn from Patricia Osburn, Otsego County Conservation District Manager, Native Plant Nursery Manager and Soil Erosion and Shoreland Officer. In 1997, refuse from this old dump site was removed and the 3 acres turned into a home for many native flowers, butterflies, wetland plants and wildlife. The development of this garden has been to educate the public on the importance of native plants for preserving the water the quality and supporting ecosystems. There is a Meet and Greet from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the classroom on the property with the informational presentation and walking tour beginning at 5:30 p.m. Rain or shine, dress accordingly. The public is welcome and there is no cost to attend. Native Plants will be available for sale and members may bring any excess plants from their gardens; they would like to share afterwards.
