R2W presents RX Open Mic at Frisco Fresh Market

Right 2 Write presents to you the reboot of Random Xpressions Open Mic in collaboration with Frisco Fresh Market. Come join us for our new daytime open mic where you can enjoy fresh talent and shop for fresh foods in the market. This month we will have features from T. Odis, GF Solider, and Nova. The open mic will be available as well for anyone to join. Tickets are now available! An open mic event for the Frisco folks. Please bring your poems, songs, stories, jokes, and whatever you have to share. All ages. Family Friendly material. Plenty of parking available. Great atmosphere. Come and vibe out with us. We would love to have you.

Nova: Nova Atkins, got her start in poetry in New Orleans, LA. Growing up with art and music all around, she brought her experience from Hurricane Katrina with her into college. The former president of Northwestern State University of Louisiana poetry society, “B.A.P.S”; graduated in 2016 with a degree in English Literature. Nova has performed in many venues ranging from North Louisiana to San Diego, California. Nova expandedher love of poetry in Dallas, Tx. as a member of the 2022-2023 Dallas Poetry Slam team. She has gone on to compete in multiple competitions and became the 16th poet in the Women of the World Poetry Slam in 2024. The Co-founder of the Goosebumps Slam team in 2023, that has gone on to win 2nd place in the Chicharra poetry Festival in 2024. Between stage presence and her in your face writing Nova is showing she lives up to her name, a new star.

T. Odis is a poet from Dallas, TX by way of Chicago, IL. He began using poetry as a means of catharsis, and has since embraced his unique writing, performance, teaching and corporate experience to entertain, inform and organize events nationwide. He is an HBCU alumnus, an award winning slam poet, and has published two books of poetry. He has performed in venues and festivals nationwide. He is currently an architect and teaching artist. T. Odis lives in Dallas with his wife and two children.

Born Hilton Christopher Young, GFSoldier (GOD-Fearing) was born and raised in New Orleans, LA now residing in Dallas, TX as a result of hurricane Katrina. GFSoldier is an international poet, author, writer, mentor, teacher, counselor, motivational speaker, and spoken word artist. GFSoldier’s delivery is one that penetrates the very depths of the human soul while captivating a crowd with both emotion and intellect. GFSoldier has spoken all around the nation and made his international debut in Trinidad and Tobago in 2012 and recently, Ghana, West Africa in 2015, and Toronto, Canada in 2016 and 2017, Mississauga, Canada in 2017, Kingston, Jamaica inm 2019, and a return to Trinidad and Tobago in 2024. He has shared the stage and have opened for such artists as Poet/Artist Joseph Solomon, Artist/Speaker/Pastor Jackie Hill Perry, and Preston Perry, gospel recording artists Jonathan Traylor, Sean Johnson, gospel singing greats Tamela Mann, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Tye Tribbett, Kierra Sheard, and Vashawn Mitchell, actor/poet Malcolm Jamal-Warner, actress/poet Irma P. Hall, actor/choreographer Darrin Henson, and Neo Soul R&B Queen Erykah Badu. HBO and Def Poets; Sunni Patterson (New Orleans Slam Poetry Teammate), Black Ice, African American Shakespeare, world renowned poets Taalam Acey, and Queen Sheba. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision.
