Hakim - is a 21-year-old poet from Washington, DC. “My Definition (of Love)” is his first published piece with Shout Mouse. Hakim is currently a student at a local university and spends his free time creating art, writing poetry, & exploring holistic practices. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in social work, driven by his passion for helping others. Through his work, Hakim hopes to inspire readers to embrace their most authentic selves.
Lauryn - Born in Philadelphia, PA, LAURYN CIARDULLO (they/them) is a 21-year-old Musical Theatre student at a local university. “Love Like Kindergarten” and “to the blue-eyed boy from across the way” are their first published pieces. When not writing, they spend time performing onstage, teaching theatre, and advocating for Howard’s queer community through CASCADE. Lauryn would like to thank their blue-eyed boy for showing them the sweetest love they’ve ever known and hopes readers learn to find the beauty in the smallest acts of love.
Nora - is a student at a local university. She grew up in Frederick, Maryland. She has been published multiple times in Stylus, the university’s literary magazine. The Light Looks Like Me is the first book in which Nora has been published. Nora is also a member of her school’s writer’s program, as well as the apparel chair and loosehead prop on the Women’s Club Rugby team. After graduation, she hopes to pursue writing and publishing work full-time.
