FBAC Artist Talk with Wood Engraver Paul Constance

"Make Haste Slowly: The sensual and therapeutic pleasures of wood engraved prints"

Paul Constance is a writer and printmaker based in Falls Church, Virginia. He taught himself wood engraving in his 40s and eventually became a member of the Society of Wood Engravers (UK) and the Wood Engravers’ Network (US), which have featured his prints in several traveling exhibitions. Constance is also editor of Block & Burin, the print journal of the Wood Engravers’ Network.

Constance was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Patagonia, Ecuador and the American Bible Belt. His wood engravings primarily feature Andean landscapes and pre-Columbian ruins. (Paul will bring tools, blocks, ink, and paper to demonstrate the process after his talk.)
