Exhibit Opening - Why We Serve: Native Americans in the U.S. Armed Forces

Join us on Saturday, June 21st for the opening of "Why We Serve: Native Americans in the United States Armed Forces". Opening activities include performances, special guests, and tree planting ceremony.

"Why We Serve" honors the Native Americans who have served in the US military, often in extraordinary numbers, since the American Revolution. The exhibition offers a comprehensive look at Native military involvement and explores Native American military service from its origins to the present day. It highlights the contributions Native Americans have made to the US military throughout our country’s history.

"Why We Serve: Native Americans in the United States Armed Forces" is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Museum of the American Indian.
