Role of the Subject Leader Part 1

This three-part online course is the ideal overview for all English subject leaders.

The role of the subject leader is a crucial one for empowering and inspiring your team in your subject. Our three-part online course is the ideal overview for all English subject leaders, whether you are new to the role, returning, or in need of a refresher. This comprehensive course will equip you with all the key skills and resources that you will need to implement and oversee a successful whole school English curriculum. This course has always been one of the highlights of the SLN training calendar, bringing together new subject leaders in a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

Part 1 will focus on identifying key aspects of the role of the subject leader and identifying the priorities in your school as well as a guided tour of the SLN website, and looks at how we can support you.

Part 2 explores the effective monitoring of literacy in your school. This will include: looking at data, exploring the learning environment and resources, looking at planning, interviewing pupils, looking at books and lesson observation.

Part 3 examines EYFS assessment, the phonics screen, and end of KS1 and KS2 assessments as well as writing moderation in KS1 and KS2.

This training is available through Zoom and the materials referenced will be available digitally.

Please note: We encourage delegates to attend all 3 dates but they can work as stand alone sessions.
