Join us for a fun Summer of Jedi (Mindfulness) Training!
Registration is now open for our Youth Summer Program! (think Vacation Bible School, except secular) Forms are located on the bulletin board by the Nursery. Deadline to register is May 8 or until we are full! This will be Wed through Fri, June 25-27, 2025 from 5:30pm-8:30pm nightly. Let us know if you would like to register or volunteer to help!
We hope the youth of our community will learn techniques in mindfulness through an environment that encourages and supports Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion. The original Jedi Code designated that some things were better than others. The Jedi Code we use allows for balance: Emotions, yet Peace - Ignorance, yet Knowledge - Passion, yet Serenity - Chaos, yet Harmony - Death, yet, the Force
This “Jedi Academy” will offer padawans (youth) an opportunity to develop practical life and social-emotional skills along with engaging in fun, Star Wars-themed activities. During our program, we will explore five training categories:
-Skill (physical training, including some lightsaber training, along with peacekeeping and how to make good choices despite forces pulling in other directions)
-Senses (Connection of the body and physical experience to our inner experiences)
-Courage (Mindfulness training and using that to become a positive force for change in the world, even -and especially- when the odds do not seem in their favor)
-Insight (Exploration of big questions – responsibility, morality and more)
-Spirit (Grounding and coping practices)
All of the classes include components of all five training categories, though each will focus on one aspect. And these classes are not merely philosophical discussions. This is hands-on, active training for our Jedi padawans. Students do not need to be familiar with the Star Wars movies to participate. This is designed for youth ages 6 through 12 years of age (those going into 1st grade through 7th grade), and any teenage volunteers (or going into 8th grade and up) will receive signed service hours.
