Marcos Silva’s original compositions have been performed by Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Herbie Mann, Dori Caymmi, and many other world-class artists. Ranging across traditional Brazilian rhythms and jazz harmony, Silva’s music combines the best of both worlds in an exciting Brazilian and Jazz Fusion.
Hailed as a musician’s musician, Marcos Silva has extensive performance history with household names in Brazilian music including Flora Purim, Airto Moreira (he was their music director for 24 years), Paquito D’Rivera, Leny Andrade, Emilio Santiago, Marcio Montarroyos, Jon Lucien, Claudio Roditi, Dori Caymmi, Nana Caymmi, Danilo Caymmi, Edu Lobo, Romero Lubambo. Joyce, as well as the exciting contemporary Brazilian guitarist, Chico Pinheiro.
Given his experience touring internationally with fellow Brazilian artists and interactions with Jazz luminaries, Marcos’ amiability and stories behind compositions have proven to be fun and fascinating for audiences familiar and new to his repertoire.
