Hello hello everyone! It's the start of a new semester/trimester/something or other of spotlighting for us all here at your favourite JCU club! And I just know that you've all been hanging out for a good night walk, so as tradition dictates we'll be going out for an awesome night at the Flecker Botanic Gardens. If you've never been spotlighting before, it's the perfect opportunity to give it a go and see some of our wonderful wildlife.
For those of you who joined us in previous times it'll be a pretty similar event to our past spotlighting escapes. Those who are new to all of this, we'll essentially be walking around the forest for a bit to see what we can find. Please make sure you bring a torch that's fully charged, closed-toed shoes, some water, and definitely some bug spray! (if you need a torch let me know and we'll see what we can do)
We'll be meeting in front of the Gondwana Garden (same as last time) at 7.30pm, and from there we'll wander around the gardens to see what we can find. Previous trips here we've seen some nice frogs, some pretty possums, lots of cool bugs (including tree-living tarantulas!), and some stunning glowing mushrooms!
Even though it's probably a pretty close location for all of us, carpooling is hella environmentally friendly so if people need lifts let me know and we will organise a bit of a carpool. That means if you're coming, please let me know!
As always if you're feeling unwell please don't come, and while we are spotlighting we will be maintaining 1.5m distancing.
Anyway, please do come along if you can, I can promise you that it will be a fantastic night! If you've never been out spotlighting before, it's a great opportunity to give it a go and see if you enjoy it. Hope to see you all there! 😃
