Hello hello everyone, welcome to a new semester/trimester/who even knows any moreof birdwatching! But what better way to celebrate your midyear of nature than by seeing some of our amazing birds?? Our next birding session will be happening this Monday morning, right at JCU.
If you've never done any birdwatching before, this event will be perfect as an introduction to the wonderful world of birds. Equally though, if you're a birding extraordinaire there will still be plenty of opportunities to see some interesting species. Either way, please do come along and join us for a wonderful morning!
We'll be meeting at the uni bus stop at 7.30am, and from there we'll have a bit of a wander around campus to see what birds we can find. We'll be led by our wonderful expert Michael McMaster, so get ready for an excellent morning! Our target species for the morning I reckon will be the amazing Buff-breasted Paradise Kingfisher. These lovely kingfishers are getting ready to fly back north to New Guinea soon so hopefully we can find some!
Please make sure you bring a hat, water, and sunscreen because it's likely to be a bright and sunny morning. If you've got binoculars, please bring them along as well! There'll still be plenty to see if you don't have any though.
As always if you're feeling unwell please don't come, and while we are watching birds we will be maintaining 1.5m distancing. And yes, we are finally affiliated and everything so all JCU students and staff are covered by JCUSA insurance (finally!).
Hope to see you all there, and if you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to ask! :D
