Yoga with Carolyn

A slower-paced, workshop style class where we will break down common yoga postures to better understand their anatomical and energetic components.

This all-levels class will help beginners learn how to embody postures safely and effectively while more advanced students will gain a deeper understanding of the postures and a more intimate connection to their practice. We’ll achieve this by exploring the basic anatomy of asanas: the muscles involved, skeletal alignment, common misalignments and helpful modifications.

On a more subtle level, we will explore how the asanas affect our energetic body, how the movements of Prana manifest in each posture, how our breath guides our practice, and how the use of energetic locks, or Bandhas, enhance the effects of a posture and help prevent injuries.

This class seeks to honor the roots of Yoga postures by discussing their Sanskrit names and exploring what they mean and where they came from. Classes will run approximately 60 minutes.
