Celebrating 20 Years of Community, Care & Connection!
This year marks a truly special milestone – 20 years since the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery (FOSBC) first came together with a shared goal: to protect, preserve and honour one of Brisbane’s most historic and character-filled resting places.
What began back in 2005 as a grassroots movement by three determined women has grown into a vibrant, community-led force for good. Over the past two decades, the FOSBC has restored neglected graves, defended heritage values, cleaned pathways, shared untold stories, and built a strong network of volunteers through initiatives like the beloved Guardian Angels program. And now it’s time to celebrate all that we’ve achieved – together.
Join us in the cemetery for our 20th Anniversary Day, a joyful and meaningful gathering for all who’ve helped shape this journey – from longtime volunteers and local history buffs, to curious newcomers, families, descendants, and anyone who simply cares about preserving our past.
We’re thrilled to host special guests on the day, including an amazing heritage stonemason demonstrating the timeless skills that keep these monuments standing strong (like SBC’s irreplaceable ‘King Angel’).
Whether you’ve scrubbed a headstone or joined a history tour with us, researched a story or simply walked through these grounds in quiet reflection – this day is for you.
Come along and enjoy:
