The June Photobook Dummies meetup will borrow the name of our hosts as our theme and repackage it as a challenge. All are encouraged to bring YOUR work(s), whether published, self-published, in-progress, or especially small self-made “books” assembled for this meetup.
One of my favorite books I have seen at a previous meetup was simply a sequenced selection of 4x6” photographs, printed at Walgreens, with a hole punch in the corner and linked by a few inches of beaded chain.
I will bring “the” copy of my self-published photobook, “I Walked the Dog,” because it is heavy on my heart today. I also plan on bringing at least three new homemade photobooks, and encourage you all to try the same. If you’ve brought your books or projects to a previous meetup, bring them again!
Feel intimidated? Bring a book that speaks to you in such a way that it feels as if it could be yours, or just yourself (and a friend). Most importantly, bring positivity – Photobook Dummies is not a place for critique, we are good vibes only.
