Healing Through Portraiture: Saturday Course

Portrait of a Self: Art as Healing is a transformative 5-week art class series centered on self-expression, reflection, and healing through portraiture. Whether you’re a beginner or returning to art after years away, this course is designed to nurture your creativity, confidence, and artistic voice in a supportive environment.

Each class explores a different technique in drawing, painting, and mixed media, guided by prompts that help you connect with your sense of self. We will end with a collaborative exhibition at American Underground in Downtown Durham, where you'll display your work in a curating gallery experience.

This is a space where there is no “right” or “wrong”—just expression.

• No experience necessary. All skill levels are welcome.
• Materials included. Basic studio supplies are provided, with optional premium packages.
• Final exhibition included. Students will showcase their work in a celebratory group show at American Underground.
• Sliding scale available. We’re committed to accessibility and community care.
• Light snacks and tea provided.

Each ticket corresponds to the first day of class for your group.
Classes meet once a week for 5 sessions total.
