AAC Monthly General Meeting - June

Our guest speaker this month is our very own Mark Hanley.

Mark is a member of the Atlanta Astronomy Club as well as a new AAC Board member. Mark holds a BA double major in mathematics and economics and an MBA in Finance from the College of William and Mary. Ever since he pored over the telescope advertisements in the back of Popular Science magazine as a boy, Mark has always had a keen interest in the cosmos, particularly in cosmology. Due to his mathematics background, he has also been interested in general relativity, the mathematics of spacetime, and how mathematics now actually leads observation in new discoveries about the Universe, completely reversing the prior history of discovery.

Since retiring as a financial executive from UPS, Mark has spent considerable time exploring his passion for the cosmos and the unseen forces and mysteries of the universe. Today, he will be sharing his insights on one of the most intriguing topics in modern astrophysics: Dark Matter.

As usual, we cover club business including upcoming events, observing and outreach.

**** Important note: We are starting the meeting early at 3pm so that members have time to travel to the observing field at Charlie Elliott if it is a clear night.
