Night of Brotherhood, presents From Darkness

The development of From Darkness... came from a love of storytelling.The stories shared by our grandparents, parents, aunties and uncles, friends and foe help shape our lives far more than books of facts and figures. We understand more about the people in our lives by the stories they tell and by the way they tell them.Stories are our way of individualising our personalities and our history.None of us experience life the same way, we share similar experiences, but the experience is always different. Imagine two people from opposing teams recounting a goal scored at a live football match. The goal was “live” so they experienced the same thing, but their emotions and their beliefs change how they tell the story of the goal. It will be a different story about the same experience. The same is true for how we experience addiction. Many of us share similar experiences but we experience and deal with that experience in very different ways. Telling our stories allows us to reclaim that experience, to validate that experience, to have that experience heard, properly heard. The importance of being heard in our recovery can be life and death. Just having one person establish a connection to your story can empower that individual to seek more support.Our aim is to have the stories of individual's, witnessed and heard. Validating their experience and highlighting their strength, courage and determination to help others.
