Join us Saturday, August 9 for new exhibitions at Library Street Collective and Louis Buhl & Co., the unveiling of Public Matter, and an artist talk. At Library Street Collective, hear L. Kasimu Harris and José Parlá in conversation with Allison Glenn for the opening of "Crosscurrents" and Harris’s Public Matter series. Doors open at 5:45PM.At Louis Buhl & Co., see "Between Us" by Davariz Broaden and Murjoni Merriweather, plus a "Salon Highlight" with Lorena Cruz Santiago.

Crosscurrents

Public Matter
L. Kasimu Harris

The 2025 iteration of Public Matter will feature work by photographer L. Kasimu Harris in the Belt. "Vanishing Black Bars & Lounges: Detroit" documents Black-owned bars like Jolly Old Timers and Zell’s Corner, capturing their legacy amid a changing city. Alongside photos, Harris debuts a reimagined liquor ad rich in Detroit iconography, drawing on Anansi folklore to subtly critique gentrification. Learn more about the exhibition .
