Mayoral Candidate Forum on Parks & Public Spaces

Join the Detroit Parks Coalition and BridgeDetroit for a forum with the mayoral candidates seeking to lead Detroit. We'll gather at the Palmer Park Bandshell at 6 p.m. on July 24, 2025. The forum begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Bring your own lawn chairs/blankets as the bandshell has grass seating.

Bridge Detroit’s Bryce Huffman will moderate a forum on the issues facing Detroit’s parks, with questions submitted by park users citywide.

Among the topics of discussion: Parks, public safety, preserving and creating third spaces in the city, transportation, development in neighborhoods, investment from businesses and developers, etc.

Parking is available on site.

Food trucks will be available for purchase.

Bus options:

• Hop on the Route 7 at a stop near your location in St. Clair Shores and ride it west. Get off at the intersection of Pontchartrain and Woodward Avenue. From there, it's a short walk to Palmer Park and the Palmer Woods Historic District.
• Take the 4-Woodward bus north from St. Clair Shores, getting off at a stop near Palmer Park. This bus runs along Woodward Avenue and makes frequent stops along the way.
