Chef Phil Jones (Detroit Food Policy Council) and his vinyl-slinging son Jermond Booze (Detroit Food Academy) are cranking up the smokers and the turntables in one giant sidewalk celebration of food, funk, and family. Imagine Sly & the Family Stone’s bass line rolling through the speakers while brisket bark snaps in the pit—youth apprentices swapping jokes with the OGs, sweet smoke curling over Jefferson, and a whole neighborhood two-stepping between the record bins and the rib tips.

Our host Molly Mitchell has turned Rose’s into Detroit’s coziest crossroads of good bites and better vibes. This pop-up kicks off a year of collabs—think heritage dinners, mindful-eating classes, and late-night vinyl tastings—all powered by The Black Food Project + Rose’s creative kitchen.
