The Walled City Music International Academy continues with a dynamic concert celebrating the piano as a collaborative instrument.
Featuring seven distinguished pianists across a range of ensemble configurations, this programme explores the joy and complexity of piano duets and group performance, from four hands to eight.
The programme features a rich variety of works for multiple pianists at one instrument – with combinations for four, six and even eight hands. Highlights include music by Melanie Bonis, Franz Schubert, Sergei Rachmaninov, and Albert Lavignac, showcasing both the technical brilliance and the playful energy of ensemble piano repertoire.
Solo and duo works also form part of the evening, including reflective pieces by Bach (arranged by Siloti) and Scriabin, alongside contemporary works by Fazıl Say and Sahba Aminikia that incorporate recorded voices and soundscapes, engaging with themes of protest, memory and resilience.
Performers include Therese Fahy, Chu-Fang Huang, Cathal Breslin (Academy Director), Xiaofeng Wu, Ksenia Nosikova, Svetozar Ivanov, and Ghadeer Abaido – all internationally recognised artists and faculty members of this year’s Academy.
This concert offers a rare opportunity to experience the piano in ensemble form, combining precision, energy and shared musical expression!
