Lughnasadh is the Irish word for August and clearly related to the Sun God Lugh - in our mythology he was one of the most important Gods of the Tuath de Danann.
Lughnasadh is a time to see what is flowering in our own life; what may need to be plucked out to enable the flowers to become fruit. We can see what seeds are ripening that can later be offered into the dark earth in the hope that they too will bear fruit in the next year. Now is the time to tend to all that is growing in you so that you will have a rich harvest in the Autumn and the coming close of the Celtic year. Know that summer will not last forever and that soon you will reap the fruits of your own harvest.
For the druids of the Grove of Danu this is a time to give thanks for all the blessings of the earth and to remember that at this time in our earth history we are in danger of destroying these gifts. We ask that the light may come to earth for the benefit of all beings.
