Field Day is only 10 days away. Come on out to our Field Day site at a cabin in Russell Woods, 11750 State Rte. 72, Genoa, IL 60135 June 28th and 29th. Visitors and operators won’t have to be concerned over any inclement weather as the stations will be in a rental cabin.
Setup will start Saturday morning on or around 10 AM CDT with the actual event starting at 1800 UTC (1 PM CDT), and ending at 2059 UTC (12:59 PM CDT) Sunday. Field Day gives hams and “wanna-be” hams an opportunity to operate portable on every mode. We’ll be a “3A IL” entry (3 stations – SSB, CW and FT8),100% battery-powered. Steve, W9XF is working on getting a special call sign for the event.
We will need operators and relief operators for all three stations, as well as loggers for SSB, FT8, and CW stations. There’s also plenty of time for any “night owls” who (hoo?) would like to operate overnight. Bring your sleeping bag, tent and/or camper, etc. If you know of any people who have even a passing interest in ham radio, tell them about it, and bring them out to our site. They will be more than welcome to get on the air on any of our three stations and have the opportunity to make contact with virtually every US state as well as DX.
This year for dinner on Saturday evening 6pm we will be serving hot dogs and brats along with baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and chips. We will also have water and coffee. We will need a head count so if you plan to attend dinner let us know so we can have enough food on hand. If you can't come to operate then come for dinner. Sunday morning we will have donuts and coffee.
Bring a chair!
If you plan to show up please contact one of us on the list below.
Cheers
