Living the Yamas and Niyamas: A Somatic Exploration
The Yamas (restraints) and Niyamas (observances) form the first two limbs of Patanjali’s eightfold path and are the ethical foundation of yoga practice. In these uncertain times, living our yoga—both on and off the mat—is more essential than ever. This training invites us to approach these timeless teachings with both intention and embodied awareness.
Through a somatic lens, we’ll explore how these 10 guideposts can support us in cultivating peace, compassion, abundance, self-knowledge, and connection in everyday life. These ancient principles are not only spiritually resonant but practically applicable—offering tools to live more freely and joyfully in alignment with our deepest values.
Together, we’ll gently and deeply investigate each of the Yamas and Niyamas
We’ll reflect on how these principles meet our modern lives and unique journeys—drawing on somatic inquiry and embodied practice to help integrate them into our lived experience.
This training will include:
-Philosophy lectures
-Yoga practices including asana, pranayama, meditation and mantra
-Live Music
-Journaling prompts
-Q & A and Satsang (Being in the company of good people and good conversation)
-A training manual
-A safe and brave space to heal and thrive
