Yogic sages of India have long described an “energy body”, the Pranamaya Kosha, and refer to this energy as flowing through myriad “little rivers” they called Nadis. Taoists shamans, martial artists, and acupuncturists have described similar networks of channels that conduct “Chi”, regulating emotional and physical health. These ancient traditions are now gathering support from Western scientist who have observed previously unnoticed energies moving through the physical tissues of the body, forming the fundamental, primordial organizational and communications systems that correlate with these ancient descriptions of the subtle body.
Learn about the ancient theories, the modern research, and most importantly the direct practical relevance to our yoga practice, and how it can enhance your teaching. Explore what is in the recent years being formulated as a “Modern Meridian Theory”, and directly experience these energies with exercises that help a yogi first to become aware of, then to learn to guide, this primal energy. We will investigate underlying anatomy and cutting-edge theory, practice simple but powerful techniques including movement and breathwork to illuminate the unseen.
