Interested in joining league or perhaps would just like a refresher of how all this works? Here is a general breakdown of our rules and format.
League costs $15 to join (once per sesssion), along with coin drop for every week.
League meets Mondays at Canal Street Arcade and Deli. (With the exception of most holidays and when league is not in session. Other Mondays may be excluded as needed and league members will be informed.) Check in by 6pm and games start at 7pm.
Players will play in groups of 3 or 4 and will play 4 random games every week, scoring points based on game placement. As of this writing (10/01/2024), players will be randomly paired with other members of the league each week with balanced pairing across the entire league. We will play for 8 weeks of regular season play and there will be two nights of finals. You will only play for one of those finals based on which division you place in. Extra balls are allowed, but only one may be played per game. If you get more than one extra ball, you may skillfully plunge that ball, but you must take your hands off the flippers and allow the ball to drain. Finals format is dependent on which finals you qualify for. There will be a cut off line based on overall league scores to decide if you qualify for "A" finals or "B" finals. Everyone will qualify for one of these finals and have a tournament to participate in. Finals format and rules are subject to change based on league needs and amount of players.
ATTENDANCE IS CRUCIAL! Like any other organized sport, Gem City Pinball League runs best when all active players show up on a weekly basis. There will be no make up weeks, however everyone does get 1 “drop” meaning at the end of the 8 week season your lowest scoring week falls off of your total. We ask that you please check in with us every Monday by 6pm to inform us of your attendance status that evening. Absenteeism is one of the biggest complications we face, so with that being said we do implement the rule that if you miss 3 weeks in any given season you are removed from that season's rankings and disqualified for that season's finals. (*Special circumstances may be made at the discretion of league operators, if they are notified ASAP and have valid reasons for being gone. Again, this will be at the discretion of league operators.) If you do miss 3 weeks and are removed from that current season's rankings, you are still more than welcome to come play for the remainder of the season, however your scores will not be entered and you will not have a spot in that season's finals. You are also welcome to rejoin us officially at the beginning of the next season, given that there are spots available.
Rules of conduct: our league members are what make this whole thing great and just like anyone else we all deserve to be treated with a level of respect and understanding. Treating others with disrespect will not be tolerated and could lead to your removal from league. Also, there will be no arguing of final calls and decisions made by league directors. There are rules in place for various reasons and be aware that not following the rules and guidelines set in place could result in your disqualification or removal from league. Arguing with ANY LEAGUE OFFICIAL over any ruling is not likely to change anyone's mind or earn you any bonus points. Pinball is a game susceptible to mechanical failures that may or may not cause for a game to be shutdown or be restarted. This is the nature of the game, and any arguing or inappropriate behavior over any such rulings will not be entertained. Basically, we are all here to have a good time and let's treat everyone with respect and kindness!
We hope these rules have been clear and concise and we hope to see you all out there!
