Event Overview
The two-day concluding colloquium for the Thinking Food at Intersections Sawyer Seminar critically engages justice-centered visions for the future of food through community engagement, scholarship, art, activism and the senses. Throughout this immersive experience, participants will engage in a food performance by artist and Black food futurist Nia Lee, participate in workshops with artists, scholars, makers, and food scientists, and learn from provocative thinkers and doers, including Julie Guthman, author most recently of The Problem With Solutions: Why Silicon Valley Can’t Hack the Future of Food and Carlton Turner, Co-Founder of the Mississippi Center for Cultural Production (Sipp Culture).
This culminating Thinking Food colloquium is co-sponsored by the Manetti Shrem Museum, the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food, Imagining America: Artists and Scholars in Public Life, and the Darrell Corti Endowed Professor in Food, Wine and Culture.
