Merry Christmas in July!
You are all invited to an easy paced gravel / paved ride down the James S. Miner Riverwalk from Corunna's McCurdy Park, to Owosso's Harmon Partridge Park along the Shiawasee River.
Half way through this ride the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso will be treating us to a tour of The "Polar Express" 1225 Steam Locomotive whose images and sounds were used in the movie Polar Express!
The Steam Railroading Institute tour of the 1225 Polar Express is free but as a non-profit organization donations to the institute at the beginning of the tour are very appreciated!
This No-Drop ride will take us 16 miles about 10-12 mph along a multi-use pathway.
Bring your mountain bike, gravel bike or gravel capable hybrid. (Road bikes not recommended)
Meet and park spot is Corunna Historical Village in McCurdy Park. Roll out time is 6:00
Required Gear:
• HELMET no exceptions
• Flat Kit (spare tube, pump or CO2 inflator and tire lever or multi-tool with appropriate tools for your bike)
Recommended Gear:
• Rear red light, front white light
• Cell phone
• Water
CycleFit in Fenton can tune-up your bike and has all the supplies you need!
Ride Etiquette:
• Show up prepared and on time. Out of respect for others we will not delay the ride start at 6:00 for someone who is late. It is completely okay if you are familiar with the route and have a plan to catch up.
• We share the trail with walkers and bikers so please call out traffic: "Walker Up" and/or "Biker up." When you hear this called out it is your responsibility to move to the side right of the trail and ride single file. We pass the slower traffic on the left and it is considerate to either ring your bell or say "On your left" to the walker or biker you are passing.
