Henrik Vibskov – Monster Socks at CC

Henrik Vibskov’s Monster Socks are knitted textile worms – soft, playful, and sculptural figures designed to house what we would otherwise throw away.

By purchasing a Monster Sock and filling it yourself with old clothes or underwear, you become an active part of the project. Bring textile waste from home, have it shredded – and use it as stuffing for your own textile worm, which you shape and take home.

It’s a hands-on, sensory experience where your waste is transformed into a new object. A visual and physical reminder of how much we throw away – and what it could become instead.

The project draws attention to the textile industry’s massive climate footprint and the urgent need for recycling. Textile waste only recently received its own waste category in Denmark, and from 2025, sorting will be mandatory across the EU.

The Monster Sock is inspired by the earthworm – nature’s quiet recycler. It breaks down the dead to nourish new life. In the same spirit, we hope Monster Socks can remind us that even waste can have a new beginning – and that awareness starts with an action we can feel in our hands.
