Anyone who wants to come is welcome to join me on a ride through Devil's Nose and Clear Creek Canyon. We will have lunch in Golden, CO, and hit the Lookout Mountain Pass as part of the route back to the Springs. Moderate pacing if you're following me; if you're fast and bored with my pace, zoom on ahead and meet us at the stops. If you're taking a more relaxed pace, the group will wait for you at each stop (within reason).
If you are a Denver-area rider, you can join us at the gas stop in Morisson, please be there by 10am waiting for the group (we leave from Colorado Springs at 9am).
The Route is: Co Springs > 25 North to Palmer Lake > 105 > 85 > 470 > gas stop in Morrison > 74 > 66 > 103 through Devil's Nose > Idaho Springs to the 70 > highway 6 through Clear Creek Canyon > lunch at The Golden Mill in Golden, CO > Lookout Mountain via Lariat Loop Rd > back to the Morrison Gas Stop > any Co Springs riders can join me for a blast through Foxton/Deckers on the way back.
Stops:
1. Meetup, fuel up at 8:30am, KSU 9:00am at Circle K, 1225 Academy Park Loop, Colorado Springs, CO 80910 (right across the street from the US Post Office).
2. Gas stop (and to pick up Denver riders) at Phillips 66, 16283 Morrison Rd, Morrison, CO 80465
3. Lunch at The Golden Mill, 1012 Ford St, Golden, CO 80401
4. Scenic pic stop at Lookout Mountain
5. Fuel up at Phillips 66, 16283 Morrison Rd, Morrison, CO 80465 and Denver riders can break off here or at any earlier point
6. If at least one Colorado Springs rider wants to take Foxton Road + Deckers Pass on the way back with me, I will be navigating it in a legal but spirited manner (lol) on the way back. This part is not beginner-friendly, fast pacing.
Guidelines for Safety:
1. Ride your own ride, don't chase the rabbit. You are responsible for your own safety. If you are feeling nervous at any point, that's a good sign to slow down.
2. Ride staggered in straights and when passing vehicles, ride single file in the twisties. Don't put yourself in bad situations trying to pass vehicles, make sure you have good vision of oncoming traffic. Don’t overtake on blind corners, basic stuff here.
3. Give people a space cushion to maneuver, don't ride anyone's ass or you will cause an accident.
4. Treat riders like they are full sized vehicles, they can't see you and they're unpredictable. Do not pass a rider in the same lane as them, use a passing lane or the opposing traffic lane (if someone is going too slow for your taste).
5. Please don't showboat, it's not that kind of ride. Or at the least, do it far away from other riders so you don't take someone out if you fuck up.
