When the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah, he found the Jews fasting on the Day of 'Ashura. He asked, “What is this day you fast?”

They replied: “This is the day Allah saved Musa (AS) and his people, and drowned Fir’oun and his army. So Musa (AS) fasted in gratitude to Allah.”

The Prophet ﷺ said: “We are more worthy of Musa (AS) and nearer to him than you.” And from that day forward, he fasted on 'Ashura and encouraged his companions to do the same.

As the first month of the Muslim calendar, Muharram is an invitation from Allah to make our U-turn back to Him, and honor it together as one Ummah.

May Allah make this a prosperous month for us all, and allow us to reach Jannatul Firdaws together, in shaa Allah. 💙
