About the event

Auditions: New Play by Joel Michael Kalinowski

CCT is excited to announce auditions for this new play by Joel Michael Kalinowski.

Evelyn Westbrook is sharp-witted, loving, and…opportunistic.

When her grandsons gather to celebrate her 80th birthday and one unexpectedly breaks his leg, she quickly devises a plan to help them rebuild their bond before it’s too late. The forced close quarters (and a dash of her strategic meddling) lead to surprising revelations, new romantic possibilities, and healing from the shared grief they have all carried for too long.

Full of laughter, tears, and a few shots fired, “Grandma’s Got a Gun” celebrates the chaotic nature of life, and the enduring power of family that helps get you through it.

Performances:
Saturday, August 23rd at 8pm and Sunday, August 24th at 2pm
Ahavath Achim Synagogue (84 Lebanon Ave, Colchester).

Auditions:
Sun Jun 8, 6:30–7:30pm & Thurs Jun 12, 6:30-7:30pm
Ahavath Achim Synagogue (84 Lebanon Ave, Colchester)

We are seeking a diverse cast of adults.
People will be asked to do a cold reading, sides will be provided.

CAST OF CHARACTERS

Evelyn “Grams” Westbrook (80): Loving, dynamic, with a sharp wit. Raised her three
grandsons.

Julian Westbrook (Mid-30’s): The middle child. Intelligent and quick-witted but
sometimes uses both to deflect his bigger complexities.

Alex Westbrook (Late 30’s to early 40’s): The oldest brother. Pragmatic and grounded
but with a temper that is easily triggered.

Wesley Westbrook (Early 30’s): The youngest brother. Lighthearted, funny, and
historically impulsive. A talented chef.

Flora: Wesley’s girlfriend. Quirky and seemingly naive yet astutely perceptive.

Naomi Westbrook: Alex’s wife and a long-time family friend. Put-together and
grounded.

Rhys: An unexpected guest and love interest. Spontaneous, charming, and fun.

Dr. Foster: Evelyn’s neighbor and “secret” long-term companion. Rational, observant,
and caring.
