Spend the day developing your machine embroidery and applique skills to create fabric for a beautiful linen lampshade for your home. The majority of the day will be spent designing and creating the imagery for your fabric, then we will show you how to roll your piece into a 15cm drum lampshade.

What will I need?

Machine: If you would like to use your own sewing machine then you are more than welcome to bring it, but we do have machines here. Make sure you can drop the feed dogs on your machine, or have a plate to cover. You will also need an embroidery or darning foot.

Fabrics: we have natural coloured cotton/linen mix as a base, but feel free to bring your own self coloured fabric if you prefer. Also any small pieces of fabric you may like to include, again we have plenty here.

Frame: we will provide everything you need to create your shade, but be aware that there will be a charge for this on the day of the workshop.

Other information:

Times: All our Saturday workshops run from 10 - 4 with a break for lunch.

Refreshments: We are unable to provide lunch, so please bring lunch or take advantage of the lovely cafes in Cockermouth. Tea, coffee, biscuits are on tap all day.

Parking: We are situated on the main street just next to Wordsworth House. If you are bringing a machine, feel free to drop off at the shop after 9.45 and there are several carparks within a short walking distance.
