A Mississippi partján fekvő St. Petersburg kisvároskában él Tom Sawyer, a csibész, akinek élete egy véget nem érő kaland: iskolakerülés, csínytevések, a felnőttek állandó bosszantása. Hát hogy is ne kedvelnénk egy ilyen fiatal bajkeverőt? Ki ne akart volna gyermekkorában kalóz, kincskereső vagy éppen rablóvezér lenni?
Ám a gyermeki szabadság története mögött ott rejtőzik egy sötétebb valóság is: a felnőttek világa, ahol a rasszizmus és a társadalmi igazságtalanság a közösség mindennapjainak a velejárója. Vajon mikor és ki tanít meg minket gyűlölni? A kis Tom hamar megérti, hogy a világ nem mindig olyan egyszerű és igazságos, mint ahogy a gyermekkor játékai ígérik, de arra is ráébred, hogy a valódi bátorság néha azt jelenti, hogy egyedül állsz ki az egész világ ellen.

În micul oraș St. Petersburg, situat pe malul râului Mississippi, trăiește Tom Sawyer, ștrengarul a cărui viață este o aventură fără sfârșit: chiul de la școală, pozne și enervarea constantă a adulților. Cum să nu-ți placă de acest tânăr scandalagiu? Cine nu și-ar fi dorit în copilărie să fie pirat, vânător de comori sau căpetenia unei bande de tâlhari?
Dar în spatele poveștii despre libertatea copilăriei se ascunde o realitate mai sumbră: lumea adulților, unde rasismul și nedreptatea socială fac parte din viața de zi cu zi a comunității. Oare cine și când ne învață să urâm? Micul Tom ajunge curând să înțeleagă că lumea nu este întotdeauna la fel de simplă și dreaptă precum o promit jocurile copilăriei, dar descoperă și că adevăratul curaj înseamnă, uneori, să te ridici singur împotriva lumii întregi.

How could you not like this young troublemaker? Who wouldn't have wanted to be a pirate, a treasure hunter or even a robber baron as a child?
But behind the story of childhood freedom lies a darker reality: the world of adults, where racism and social injustice are part of everyday life in the community. When and who teaches us to hate? Little Tom soon comes to understand that the world is not always as simple and fair as the games of childhood promise, but he also realizes that real courage sometimes requires standing up against the whole world on your own.
