Swick, a native of Clarksburg and an award-winning writer, is renowned for his long-running newspaper column "Once, Long Ago," which appeared in the Clarksburg Exponent Telegram for over 16 years. His work, characterized by meticulous research and a touch of humor, has been compiled into the West Virginia Histories series, offering readers a unique perspective on the state’s past.
