Tracing Traditions Tour Series: #3 (1880s-1900s) St. Lawrence church
Tracing Tradition takes you on a journey to six historic churches over six months, uncovering the evolution of Cincinnati’s Catholic community. Discover the people, traditions, and events that shaped these sacred spaces and their enduring legacy.
The journey continues at stop #3: St. Lawrence Church in Price Hill, a prime landmark on the west side of Cincinnati. On this tour, you will hear about the German-Catholics who began moving out of the downtown area and into the growing neighborhoods on the hills surrounding the city, driven by the industrial boom in the late 19th century. You’ll also learn about the German technique for making stained-glass windows, which is beautifully represented at St. Lawrence, along with its striking Gothic architecture. Visitors can admire the church's three soaring steeples, intricate stained-glass windows, and its role as a spiritual anchor for the Price Hill community since its founding.
