On behalf of Brown Hands Literacy, No Excuses College Tours & Programs, ARTE, South Avondale School, Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, City of Cincinnati and our community partners, we are delighted to invite you to the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Phase One of the HBCU Literacy Hub Project.
The HBCU Literacy Hub Walkway Mural, a vibrant and educational installation designed to inspire pride, literacy, and cultural awareness while transforming the South Avondale courtyard into a space for learning and celebration.
The HBCU Literacy Hub Project is a groundbreaking initiative rooted in the heart of Avondale. It is designed to uplift our youth, strengthen community pride, and connect students to the legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities through art, literacy, and engagement.
About the Leadership Team
• Latoya Turner – Founder, Brown Hands Literacy: Leading literacy engagement and cultural programming for students and families.
• Eddie Hawkins – Director, No Excuses College Tours & Programs: Championing student exposure to higher education and HBCU culture.
• Brent Billingsley – Lead Artist, ARTE: Nationally recognized community artist spearheading the design and installation of the mural.
Together, these leaders represent a collaborative model of education, art, and community impact.
