The Ghostlight Stage Company is bringing back our One Act Double Feature again for it's third year in a row! We will be producing 2 original one act plays:
America’s Favorite Feminist by Keenya Jackson and The Judgment Day of Robert Johnson by Myles Johnson.
Ghostlight's One Act Double Feature event is unique in that it is a hybrid between a typical staged reading and a full production. There will be a short 1-2 week rehearsal process of only 4 rehearsals per piece that concludes with performances for the public at the end. In addition, all plays will be assigned a costume and set designer who will come up with design concepts for the plays and a director who will come up with a full vision for the piece, as if they were being fully produced. These designs for sets and costumes will be shared with the audience in the form of lobby displays with live commentary by the designers. Additionally, the directors and playwrights will both speak during the performance about how the play could continue on in its development to give the audience a better idea of what the production would look like on a full scale. The event will "pull back the curtain" for audiences to show them what all goes into the process of developing new work, while also giving playwrights the valuable experience of having a full team of designers, a director and actors to explore their piece without it being fully produced yet.

Synopsis:
The year is 2036 and we are tuned in to watch everyone’s favorite reality TV show, ‘America’s Favorite Feminist’. We are down to the final two contestants, Minnie and Elizabeth. They’ve only made this far because of their allegiance to each other. Now with everything on the line, can their friendship (?) survive the final challenge? Let’s watch and find out which of these lucky little ladies will win a seat in the House of Representatives for their district.
The Judgment Day of Robert Johnson by Myles Johnson
Synopsis:
The Judgment Day of Robert Johnson unfolds in a mythic liminal space steeped in Southern Black folklore. Caught between life and death, 19-year-old bluesman Robert Johnson is led through a spiritual trial shaped by juke joints, ancestral spirits, and cosmic bureaucracy. The world of the play moves fluidly between a Mississippi juke joint, surreal landscapes of limbo, and the sterile tension of an otherworldly interrogation room. Time folds in on itself, weaving together 1930 and the timeless now. In this space, the blues is not just music. It is a living spirit that binds the earthly to the divine.
