The Chincoteague Oyster Festival is held on Saturday, October 11th from 10 am - 4 pm at Tom's Cove Park to promote the seafood industry and mark the arrival of the oyster season. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy oysters in a variety of ways, including raw, steamed, fritters, and single fried; clam fritters, clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, salad bar, hot dogs, hush puppies, and Boardwalk fries. Beverages are included in the ticket price with beer available for purchase. You also do not want to miss the Extravaganza Raffle - the winner receives a plethora of t-shirts, tickets, lodging, gift certificates for meals, and much more for the following year’s festival. There will also be a variety of merchandise items available for purchase including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, souvenir food trays, and glass beer mugs. This is an advance ticketed event that is typically sold out before festival day.
Participants can enjoy live entertainment while they shop to their heart's content in the Arts and Crafts tent area featuring handmade creations from area artisans. Tickets are $65 per person (children under 5 are FREE) and may be purchased at the chamber office at 6733 Maddox Boulevard, online at www.chincoteaguechamber.com or by phone at 757-336-6161.
