Fishbourne Community Macmillan Fundraiser - 26 September 2025

Cakes, coffee and companionship in aid of a great cause – yes, it is time once more for the annual Macmillan Cancer Support fundraiser at the Fishbourne Centre, and this year again we have some live music. This eagerly anticipated event, will be held at the Fishbourne Centre in Blackboy Lane on Friday 26 September 2025, starting at 2pm.

It will be held in the smaller hall and outside on the patio area if weather permits. On offer will be a range of delicious cakes, coffee or tea if preferred, live entertainment including by the Struan Strummers Ukulele band, led by local maestro Rick Hales. You can even have a go at playing one yourself! The band performed at the event last year for the first time. The introduced live entertainment segments were a particular hit with calls for a repeat this year too. Donations of cakes are much needed to help this event be a success – drop yours off at the Centre from 1pm on the day. More donations of prizes for the raffle will also be welcome, on the day or in advance, care of Zoe at the Centre.

The Macmillan Coffee afternoon is held as part of a national event to raise money and awareness for the charity, which exists to provide support for those with cancer and their families. This includes dedicated cancer care nurses allowing people to remain at home wherever possible. Fishbourne’s Community Coffee afternoon, run in partnership with the Fishbourne Centre, always includes a warm welcome and space for those affected by cancer to express memories and hopes in the form of small art activities for all to share, or simply through supportive conversation.

Organised by community volunteers in partnership with the Fishbourne Centre and Fishbourne Parish Council, the event has raised much needed sums of money for Macmillan Cancer Support for more than a decade now. Do come along and join us this year. Please label any cake boxes for return and include a note of all ingredients. Any help with setting up from 12.30pm and clearing away after will also be much appreciated!
