90th Annual New Jersey American Legion Stateside Services

The New Jersey American Legion Locustwood Memorial Service is a longstanding tradition that honors fallen Legionnaires and veterans. Held annually on the first Sunday after Memorial Day, this event brings together American Legion members, honor guards, and dignitaries from across the state.

In 1932, the Locustwood Cemetery Association deeded 400 free gravesites to the American Legion Department of New Jersey for use by Legionnaires and their spouses. As part of this agreement, the Legion committed to holding an annual memorial service at the site, a tradition that has continued since 1935.

This memorial service is not just a local event but is recognized as the official Memorial Day service of the Department of New Jersey. It serves as a time to honor and remember those who have served our country with bravery and dedication.
