Guided Meditation and Buddhist Dharma Talk with Susan Stone

"The Contemplative Path--New Scientific Validation"

Contemplatives know beyond doubt that the urge to follow an inner spiritual path cannot be dismissed as a whim or a "woke" notion, that the contemplative path in fact calls to something deep inside us. Now, new scientific research validates the contemplative understanding in terms that we can all understand. Conducted over decades and most recently in MRI studies of the brain, Dr. Lisa Miller of Columbia University and others show that spirituality is hardwired in us, hence is universal. After a guided meditation, Susan will offer an overview of the research and its implications for us as contemplatives. Then we will focus in group conversation on what has drawn to the contemplative teachings of the Buddha and on what these research findings mean to us personally.
