Swell Music Improv Extravaganza

A rising tide lifts all boats, and Swell is rising! As Charlotte’s premier music improv troupe, Swell is a performance like no other. Their tight teamwork, melodies, harmonies, and rhymes create captivating spontaneity and an electric connection you can't get from a screen. Performing both short and long form musical improv with guitar and piano accompaniment, Swell will take your suggestions and weave them into musical magic. 

We will begin our Chromatic Roots/Swell Improv collaboration in the Sanctuary for a 45 minute improv class, where you will learn the basic tenets of improvisation: agreement, teamwork, support, and trust. Then, we will descend into Chromatic Roots, where participants will explore the space and interact with Swell cast members distributed among the exhibit. You can be yourself or choose a character to portray, as our actors help bring each of the environments to dynamic life in interactive engagement and play. We will all then return to the Sanctuary for a music improv performance from Swell, where audience suggestions (and potential participation) will bring the evening to a rousing finish.
