The Gantt and Duke Energy present Live on the Plaza – a series of free live art and performances throughout the summer and fall, activating Duke Energy's plaza. Designed to turn Uptown into an afternoon artful soundscape and landscape, we welcome all to enjoy. Perfect for a lunch date or afternoon break!
Our August activation is a showcase of originally produced live music from some of Charlotte’s brightest creatives, with an outdoor performance from the musical A WALK IN MY SHOES. The play’s composer, playwright, and director, Jermaine Nakia Lee, and a talented cast of vocalists will present R&B, hip-hip, jazz and gospel performances from this musical production. A WALK IN MY SHOES will be presented as a concert and narrated as it would unfold in a fully staged production.
About the Show
A WALK IN MY SHOW is the tumultuous tale of four best friends grappling with the complexities of adulthood. Secrets will be revealed. Their indelible bond will be tested. Nothing will ever be the same.
A WALK IN MY SHOES is an urban musical that calls attention to the complex challenges faced by many youth today; the production explores themes of friendship, addiction, resiliency, and choices with consequences.
