Why This Matters: Juneteenth commemorates the day when enslaved people in Texas finally learned of their freedom—2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This delayed liberation reminds us that freedom requires both legal rights AND access to information, resources, and opportunity.

Today, we continue that legacy by addressing health disparities and economic inequality in our community through education, resources, and celebration.
