House of Funk plays Prince & The Time

House of Funk, with leader Stefan Kallander, features timeless funk legends in this Wednesday night series.

This month, dig into the ‘Minneapolis Sound,’ pioneered by Prince and The Time. The Time, fronted by the charismatic Morris Day, was initially a pet project for Prince, who wrote and produced much of their early material—a unique blend of funk, R&B, and dance-pop. This collaboration created a distinctive sound that combined Prince’s musical genius with The Time’s individual flair, and resulted in hit songs like ‘Jungle Love,’ ‘The Bird,’ and ‘Jerk Out.’
